Hon Ahmad Rabiu – President NPNEN
Rabiu served as Kano State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives &Tourism (& Solid Minerals Development) October 2017 to May 2019 and concurrently also as a member of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) (Under the Chairmanship of His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yomi Osinbanjo GCON); member of the Presidential Committee on Zero Oil and Promotion of None oil Exports (under the Chairmanship of the Executive Governor of Jigawa State) among others.
He is a National Vice President of NACCIMA, Vice President of Nigeria Niger Chamber of Commerce and founder of the Nigeria Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is a member of the Joint Planning Committee and also the Central Organizing Committee of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG). He was elected as President of NETWORK OF PRACTICING NON-OIL EXPORTERS OF NIGERIA, NPNEN in the month of November 2020 for a two years term.
He was the Private Sector Chairman of its Trade, Investments Climate and Competitiveness Policy Commission (TICCPC) and a member of the World Economic Forum. Rabiu was part of the indigenous support team for the World Economic Forum on Africa held at Abuja, Nigeria (7th to 9th May 2014). He was Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the first Kano Economic and Investments Summit and also the Islamic Investments Summit held also at Kano and member Kano – Niger Republic Economic and Investments Summit.
Rabiu is a member of the Governing Board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), served as a member of the National Competitiveness Council of Nigeria (NCCN) Tax, Trade and Business Enablement working group and the Governing Board of the Centre for Management Development (CMD). He was a member of the Vision 20/2020 and Chairman of the Trade and Commerce Thematic Area Technical Working Group of the Visioning process. He also served as Pioneer Member of the Governing Board of Jigawa Invest Promotion Agency – Invest Jigawa.
Ahmad Rabiu is a Fellow Certified National Accountant (FCNA), Fellow Certified Financial Analysts (FCFA), Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Fellow and also the Treasurer of the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria (C PIN), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Economists of Nigeria (FCE), Fellow of the Institute of Directors (IoD); Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria (FCICN), Fellow of the Institute of Finance and Control (FIFC), fellow Institute of Management Consultants and fellow of the institute of Business Executives, fellow of the Institute of Freight Forwarders, member of African Free Zones forum and Fellow Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management (FCILRM).
He is a capital market and Transport and Logistics expert, a motivational speaker and a trainer of entrepreneurs and administrators. He has attended various development courses including programs at Lagos Business School, London Business School and Harvard Business School.
Alhaji Rabiu pioneered the formation of Shippers Association in Nigeria by first convening the Northern Shippers Consultative forum (1984/87), later forming the Kano/Jigawa Shippers Association (1987) and acted as a Consultant to the Nigerian Shippers and established similar associations across the Country and emerged as the Pioneer National President of Nigerian Shippers General Assembly – the Federation of Nigerian Shippers Associations (FONSA) in year 2000.
Rabiu is a past President of Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) 2008-2013 and past Chairman of the Conference of Northern States of Nigerian Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCCIMA) 2010-2012.
